If a scan read something wrong, it helps to say which field and what the document showed. Please don't send documents with personal details unless I ask.

Frequently asked questions

Where is my pet data stored?
On your iPhone. Pets, vaccines, weights, visit notes and the medication log are stored locally with Apple's SwiftData. There's no VetKeeper account or cloud database. If you delete the app, the data is deleted too, unless it's in your own iCloud device backup.
What is sent to Anthropic when I scan a document?
Only the photo or PDF you choose to scan. It goes to a relay server run by VetKeeper, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude to read the vaccines, dates, weights and visit details, then returns the result to your phone. The relay doesn't store or log documents. Anything printed on the document — your name, address, clinic — is included, so crop it out first if you'd rather not send it. Your medication log is never sent. Details are in the privacy policy.
How much does VetKeeper cost?
The app is free and includes 8 free scanned pages. A one-time $4.99 in-app purchase unlocks unlimited scanning — it's not a subscription. Reminders, the medication log, weight history, visit notes and the PDF summary all work without it, and you can always choose Enter details manually instead of scanning.
I reinstalled or got a new iPhone. How do I get the unlock back?
On the scan screen, tap Unlock Unlimited Scanning, then Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
How do I share the PDF summary with my vet or sitter?
Open a pet, tap the share button at the top, and choose Recent Summary (one page) or Full History. Turn on Attach proof documents to add the original vet pages behind each vaccine. Then send it with AirDrop, Messages or Mail, or save it to Files to print.
When do vaccine reminders arrive?
30 days before each vaccine's next due date, at 9 am, as a local notification on your phone. Make sure notifications are allowed for VetKeeper in iOS Settings.
A scan got a date wrong. What should I do?
Tap the record to edit it. Dates on vet documents are sometimes ambiguous or printed in an unusual format, so it's worth a quick check after each scan.
Does VetKeeper tell me what dose to give?
No. The medication log records what you give and when. It doesn't give dosing or medical advice — always follow your veterinarian's instructions.
